It’s Been Awhile…

Posted on

Hello all! I know it’s been awhile since I have updated this blog (over a year!), but I’m planning on starting this up again. Since I have a full-time job now, I probably won’t be updating as much as I did in the past, but I plan to update at least once a week.

Stay tuned!

Holiday Earrings: Etsy Style

Posted on

Since I celebrate Christmas in my house, this post is dedicated to Christmas earrings. Not to say these can’t be worn for other similar holidays (Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, etc.).

I know I do a lot of posts on Etsy, but it’s just such a great place to find unique and beautiful earrings. On to the gallery…

And here are the links for each of the shops they came from:

Happy shopping, everyone!

Guess what?! I got a JOB. That’s why it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Well, that and holiday shopping and such. Anyway, this post features etsy artist (well, technically, artists) betsyandiya.

According to their Etsy page, “Focusing on asymmetry, betsy & iya jewelry inspires confidence, packs attitude, and winks at strangers. Big statement pieces, mixed vintage metals, repurposed hardware, hand-formed findings and pop colors push boundaries and exude sex appeal.”

I love their earrings because they’re interesting pieces without being too artsy. They are also very fashionable with their art deco style and a contemporary twist. And now, on to the gallery…

All ear wires, clasps, and closures are sterling silver and individually hand-formed and fused by the betsy & iya team in their Portland, Oregon shop. Prices range from $17.50 to $59.00.

Monet @ Younkers

One of my favorite places to go shopping for jewelry is Younkers (one of the Bon-Ton stores). They have a huge selection and relatively low prices. And when they don’t have low prices, they have a sale. Score!

The brand at Younkers that I have continually bought stuff from is Monet. This line is great because the jewelry is fairly high quality but still affordable. It’s a pretty simple line…not a lot of dangles and glitz. Here’s a small selection of the earrings available on their website:

Etsy Artist: Tiny Galaxies

The holiday season is upon us. What better way to celebrate than to introduce a little sparkle into our earring wardrobe? This post will feature the artist tinygalaxies on Etsy.com.

The artist says in her shop summary, “Tiny Galaxies is full of sparkly handmade resin and fine silver jewelry. Each piece is made individually by me with care. I take the time to make my own shapes, molds, silver components and findings so you can have a very unique piece that can’t be found anywhere else!”

And here’s a small sample of what’s available in her shop:

As you can see, it’s all sparkly. All of these styles are available in multiple colors and prices range from $15 to $47.

DIY with The Crafty Nest: Anthro Knockoff Tassel Earrings

Posted on

I’ve been perusing Pinterest a lot lately and have become obsessed with the DIY projects on there. I came across this one for tassel earrings made of suede ribbon. This project is great because you don’t need a whole lot of materials to make them. The tutorial I found uses teal/blue suede but I’m partial to more neutral and warm colors.

Find complete instructions on how to make them here at The Crafty Nest.

daisy fuentes @ Kohls

Kohls has stocked the daisy fuentes line of jewelry and clothing for quite some time now. I would characterize her designs as contemporary and conservative. I like her jewelry line because it’s classic enough to go along with pretty much any outfit. It’s also a pretty affordable line of jewelry, with prices ranging from $14 to $26, although they’re on sale right now at kohls.com.

Soar With Wing Earrings

Posted on

I saw a pair of wing earrings a long time ago…they were white gold and breathtaking. Little did I know that wing earrings would become a growing fashion trend. Wing earrings are great for the fall because they have that earthy and homey feel to them. Metal wing earrings are also great for holiday parties because they have a funky and fun vibe.

Normally I am not drawn to clothing/accessories that are brown, but these wood-carved earrings by Australian artist Sophie Hill are so intricately done that I just had to share them with you all. All of the earrings are handmade by Sophie using Tasmanian Myrtle timber.

These type of earrings are perfect for complimenting darker colors that are often worn during the winter. Each pair is $30.87 + shipping.

Bows Aren’t Just for Presents

Posted on

Since the holiday season is quickly approaching, I thought I would do a post about bow earrings. I love earrings with bows incorporated into them. They add a touch of elegance without being too overpowering. Bows can also add a touch of whimsicalness.

Betsey Johnson has several bow earrings styles available at Macy’s. As you can see, she uses a lot of sparkle in her designs, which I love, haha.
